There’s nothing more special than our native animals, and as a bird lover, I’m constantly drawn to them as a subject. In this case, I’ve painted a plover going through its morning stretches.
The piece is done with waterpaint on high quality waterpaint paper, and custom framed. Although it’s not a large painting, a lot of work and time goes into these little guys as I’m very particular about the details. I used Daniel Smith Primatek paints in some parts of this painting, meaning some of the colours are derived from semi-precious stones.
Please note that a shadow was added beneath the bird after the painting was scanned. You can see this in the photo.
